HOW TO SET SAG
We recommend 1" of sag with the 13" and 13-5/8" REVO or REVO-A we offer for the Trike models. This means the shocks should measure 12" for the 13" shocks and 12-5/8" for the 13-5/8" shocks between the upper and lower mounting bolts when the rider or rider and passenger weight is on the Trike. We refer to this 12" and 12-5/8" measurement as our "Target Eye to Eye Measurement". 12" or 12-5/8" is the length the shocks should be set to regardless of the weight on the Trike (one-up, two-up, etc.)
Below are the steps to set your sag:
STEP 1: Ensure the springs are adjusted evenly before starting. (There should be the same amount of threads shown below the spring on each shock)
STEP 2: Place a jack under the frame of the Trike
STEP 3: Jack the Trike up until the rear wheels are just off the ground or lift
STEP 4: Remove the rear wheels
STEP 5: Measure from the fender to the ground or lift (write this measurement down)
STEP 6: Place another jack under the rear axle and have the rider sit on the seat
STEP 7: Lower the jack that was placed under the frame in Step 2 (the weight of the Trike should now be resting on the jack under the axle)
STEP 8: Using the same reference location on the fender in Step 5 take another measurement from the fender to the ground or lift and compare that measurement to the measurement obtained in Step 5 (we are looking for this measurement to be 1" less than the measurement we got in Step 5 or (1" of sag). If the measurement is not 1" less than the measurement in Step 5, you will need to turn the springs on the shocks by hand in order to achieve a measurement that is 1" less than the measurement obtained in Step 5)
NOTE: If the measurement is not quite 1" less than the measurement obtained in Step 5, you will need to loosen the springs by turning each shock spring the same amount of turns down the shock body, which will make the springs longer (softer).
If the measurement is more than 1" less than the measurement obtained in Step 5, you will need to tighten the springs by turning each shock spring the same amount of turns up the shock body, which will make the springs shorter (stiffer).
STEP 9: If the rider plans on riding with a passenger, have the passenger sit on the Trike with the rider.
STEP 10: Take another measurement between the fender and the ground or lift (The passenger's weight will cause the shocks to squat down further, requiring the springs to be tightened to once again achieve the measurement that is 1" less than the measurement from Step 5)
STEP 11: Tighten the springs until the measurement between the fender and the ground is once again 1" less than the measurement from Step 5. (Make a mental note of how many turns of preload were required to achieve the correct measurement resulting in 1" of sag or a measurement 1" less than Step 5)
STEP 12: Reinstall the Rear Wheels
NOTE: For the best ride quality, you will want to adjust the Sag/Preload anytime you add/take away a significant amount of weight from the Trike.
When readjusting to account for your passenger's weight, use the white "Legend" logo on the springs as a reference to count how many turns were required to once again achieve the 12" or 12-5/8" eye-to-eye measurement with your passenger's weight added to the Trike. Make a mental note of how many turns were required, and then the next time you ride solo, take the same amount of turns back out of the springs, and the sag will be set correctly for you by yourself.
