Standard VS Heavy Duty Spring Rates?

Determining the right spring rate for your bike involves considering several factors. Firstly, identify the consistent weight added to the bike for the majority of your rides: solo, two-up, with luggage, etc. On FL Touring models, we recommend heavy-duty springs if the added weight consistently exceeds 500 lbs.

For Dyna models, heavy-duty springs are suggested at a slightly lower weight threshold, around 250 lbs, due to the chassis design. Dyna shocks are mounted at a steeper angle, which softens them because of increased leverage from the swingarm.

Consider your riding style too. Are you aggressive or prefer a smoother, Cadillac-like ride on long trips? Rider preferences vary, so what feels right for one may not be for another. Our weight recommendations serve as a baseline, but personal comfort matters most.

If you order the wrong spring rate or want to adjust, we offer affordable options to swap the springs. Email service@legendsuspensions.com, and our team will assist you promptly!
