Are my shocks supposed to move/pivot after being installed?
If our shocks are installed correctly, the shocks should rotate or pivot side to side. If the shocks do not rotate or pivot from side to side, the shocks may be installed incorrectly. The shocks are designed to pivot side to prevent any kind of binding in the chassis from up and down swing arm movement, as well as side-to-side swing arm movement that may occur from worn-out or out of tolerance swing arm bushings. The benefit of the spherical bearing design our shocks utilize is to prevent side-to-side movement from the swingarm being transferred throughout the rest of the chassis. This provides much more stable ride and handling characteristics, notably when cornering.
The most common installation error we see is the large OEM flat washer that comes on the stock suspension being used when installing our shocks. Using the large OEM flat washers will solidly mount the suspension and will not let the Spherical Bearings function properly and can cause the shocks to bind. This binding will cause premature wear on the suspension and potential damage to the shocks. We recommend installing our suspension with the Legend provided spacers and the existing OEM hardware as described in your install guide. Please refer to your installation guide for the correct spacer orientation when mounting your Legend shocks.
